Another Weather Day at Home

Storms were expected last night, however I was surprised by the intensity and the "train noise".  We are fine, thankful and blessed.  Just a few material things damaged.

The girls play set ended up 3 doors down in shreds.

Large trees down behind our neighborhood.

Our patio furniture was found about a quarter of a mile away, random pieces flew everywhere.

Another chair in the woods.

Our ceiling fan on the back porch didn't make it either.   The report is we had 100 mile /hour winds.  We lost a few shingles but no other home damage.

This I have never seen before.  There was a fine sand/dirt that blew in from the walls.

At 3:24 a.m. I woke up about a minute before it hit, I think I felt the pressure change.  I looked out the window and it was raining large drops of rain.  I went to the bathroom and by that time the wind was hollowing, I was on my way up the stairs 3 at a time, but feeling like I was in slow motion, to get the girls.  I couldn't see out of the windows because it was so black and rainy, the "train noise" was defining.   I am not going to lie....I was terrified.  I screamed to wake the girls up, we hustled down the stairs to the closet, and then it was over.   Growing up in the midwest and moving from AR, I thought my severe weather days were behind me.

Because of power outages, damage to schools and road closures we are at home today.   Last week it was an Ice day......today a storm day.

Snow Day....Imaginary Play

Yesterday we didn't have school because of the icy roads.   It was a welcome 3 day weekend.   We snuggled in our jammies all day and the girls put their imaginations to work.  Mia pretended she was a mommy, and Ansley had a pet rabbit.   We had a GREAT day at home!

100th Day of Kindergarten

Mia on her 100th day of school!  She has learned so much so far.  She is an avid reader, loves her friends, and has an exciting story to share with us daily!

100th Day of School

To celebrate the 100th day of School, Ansley's class dressed like they were 100 years old! She had so much fun.  Mia was disappointed that her class didn't get to dress up too!  They celebrated with a snack of 100 items.....10 pieces of 10 different foods.....trail-mix!

Morning World!

One day last week, S. had to travel so the girls were my big helpers getting out the door.   I love that Ansley took a minute to play in the mirror of the toaster as she was helping with breakfast!

Mia loves being in charge of Cubby.  He loves her too!

It is hard to believe that a year ago we were on our own in the mornings.  We had to be out the door an hour earlier, and we did it without a hiccup.   I'm not going to lie, it is hard to manage it all by myself, I am so thankful for a husband that helps our mornings run smoothly!  He sure is missed when he travels!   We survived our overnight alone!

Gift Giving!

We had so much fun celebrating Daddy's birthday!  I am not sure who was more excited the girls or S. waiting for presents!  Of course dinner choice was Popeye's fried chicken, and hot apple pies.   Then on the weekend we had his traditional birthday peanut butter custard pie.   I am so thankful to spend my life with this amazing man!   I think 40 will be another fabulous

Rain, Rain.....Let us PLAY!

Mia dumping her boot!

We have had a day of rain.  We put the girls in rain boots and trash bags and let them make a memory.  Love. Simple. Pleasures.

Friday Fun!

It finally was warm enough to play outside after school on Friday!  Lots of cartwheels and handstands until dark!  I think we are getting ready for spring weather.

Love from Lolo

The girls LOVED getting a package in the mail from our Lolo.   We sure miss all of our friends in Arkansas!   We love you Lo and sure wish we could give you a hug!
