Finally.....First day of 1st Grade

Ansley ready to learn!

After our delay opening we had our first day today!   Ansley was SO excited and I am so glad to report she LOVED it!   She has 16 students in her class, and a great teacher.  We are looking forward to a fantastic year.

1st Day of school treat!   A book, clipboard, notepad, and pencils were at the breakfast table today!

We really should have practiced getting up for school.   Our extended summer vacay was apparent this a.m.

Even though Mia doesn't start school until Tues. she was awake (kind of)  for the big day!  I think we must make sure we have a restful weekend!

Sweet girls finding their treasure.   I pray for these girls daily!   Today I especially prayed for God to take care of all the "new unknowns".   I am so thankful that He answers prayers!   I am also thankful that tomorrow is Friday!   We are tired!

A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down

Ansley as Mary Poppins.  She wanted to make her hat, so we used a paper plate!  Sweet memories.

Mary Poppins

Our last day of Summer was officially today.  The girls and I watched Mary Poppins, and of course they needed to dress in character.   Here is Miss Mia as Mary Poppins and her magic umbrella.   Oh how I am going to miss my days with my girls!   There is NEVER a dull moment.   I am so excited that their teachers will get to smile at all of their creativity!

Lily Grace and John Visit

What a fun weekend we had.  Aunt Rita, John and Lily Grace came to visit.   The kids played outside and John and Mia learned to ride bikes on two wheels!  We are so proud of them.

Grammy at Work

Grammy got straight to work making our house a home.  She is so talented.  Our house now has the perfect touch!

Grammy and PawPaw Visit

Grammy and PawPaw came to our house last week.  Daddy had to travel and we were supposed to start school.  Mia only gets to go 1 day the first week for K Phase In.  Because of the delay of starting school we all got to stay home!   We had a great week.

Delay Start

So one of the negative impacts of moving to a state with no state income tax is that the County Commissioners (elected officials) are the funding source for Public Schools.   Because they have been working on finalizing a budget for 8 months and still can't agree we will NOT be going to school on Monday.  Schools are closed indefinitely until a budget is agreed upon!  As much as I love a longer summer, I am looking forward to Fall Break, I hope this situation is resolved soon.   Education is key to the future success of this country.....we will either pay now or  pay negatively later.  If you are interested you can visit the official school website www.sumnerschools.org  Not the welcome I anticipated to our new home and my new job.   We will use this as a teaching opportunity in our family and I will attempt to finalize all my pw from home.

Jack Anderson Elementary

This has been a whirl-wind week.   I have officially started back with 3 days of New Teacher Professional Development and then 2 admin days in my classroom.  Two nights consisted of registration nights from 5-8 p.m.   So S. has had lots of duties at home, one of which was to finalize the girls registration.   When I got home this is what I found.  All of the info needed, signed up for everything we need, and two very proud girls ready to start school sporting their new t-shirts and bows!    I am so thankful that our girls have such a great daddy that makes lots of fun memories!  Look out Kindergarten and First Grade, the Sharpless Sisters are ready to learn!
